Rawlings Hosta Nursery, Ellisburg, NY

If you like hostas and can get to Ellisburg, New York (near Watertown), you'll love Rawlings Nursery. These people love hostas and have created beautiful gardens of all kinds/colors/sizes of hostas -- a joyful paradise that entices the visitor to want to lie down in the emerald green grass for a summer's nap. This whole area is just one more beautiful part of New York State - rolling farmland and hundreds of miles of rows of corn in the summer. Look Rawlings up and call ahead before you make the trip, just to be sure you've picked a good day for a visit.

...and - after visiting Rawlings Hosta Farm, here's a great spot for lunch:

A couple of miles from Rawlings on US Rte. 11 at the corner of Rte. 193 in Pierrepont Manor is The Manor Store & Diner. Cool old grocery store with a wooden ceiling turned into a breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday's restaurant. Great menu -amazing burgers and fresh cut french fries and service -- lots of local historical photos on the walls -- friendly service, easy parking in the front and on the side of the building, and a nice clean "necessary room" for patrons.
